The Mid-Valley Rockets American Legion baseball team opened Area III play with a split on Tuesday in a doubleheader against the Canyon Crushers.
The Rockets scored four in the ninth of the opener for a 10-9 win.
Jayce Lien drove in the winning run for the Rockets.
The Crushers opened the second game with a seven-run first to take control early in a 12-7 victory.
In the opener, the Rockets used a four-run first for a 4-1 lead but the Crushers countered with five in the fourth for a 7-4 lead.
Jake Rappe, of Lebanon, and Justin Tow each had three hits as the Rockets pounded out 17 in the opener.
In the second game, Canyon had a 9-2 lead in the second before the Rockets scored five in the bottom of the frame to get back into the game.
But Mid-Valley was unable to score over the final five innings.
Lien and Rappe each had two hits and Evan Cyrus drove in two runs in the loss.
The Rockets were at Eugene on June 13. The results of that game were not available by press time.
