LAS VEGAS — Nevada-Las Vegas first baseman Taylor Van Acker hit a three-run home run to center field in the fifth inning Saturday evening to lift her team to a 5-1 win over Oregon State.
The Beavers (15-30) had just tied the game in the top half of the fifth. Dani Gilmore hit a one-out double to left-center to score Ya Garcia, who had reached on a fielder’s choice after Kori Nishitomi led off with a single.
OSU couldn’t get Gilmore across, however, with back-to-back ground outs to the shortstop.
The Rebels (23-27) took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on an infield RBI grounder by Jamie DePippio. On the play, Samantha Jaurez scored on a slide at home plate around OSU catcher Kylie Padilla. Van Acker followed with her home run.
Nishitomi had two of OSU’s five hits. Amanda Najdek took the loss at pitcher.
OSU and UNLV will meet agin today at noon to wrap up the short two-game series.
The Beavers then get back into Pac-12 play Thursday to begin a three-game set at Stanford to end the regular season.
