OSU softball: Beavers open UCLA Tournament with two victories

LOS ANGELES — Oregon State opened the UCLA Tournament on Friday with softball wins of 7-0 over Charleston Southern and 7-2 over Georgetown.

In the first game, Amanda Najdek threw a complete-game, four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and no walks.

Freshman Amee Aarhus went 3 for 4 and Kori Nishitomi, Dani Gilmore and Isabelle Batayola each had two hits for the Beavers (8-11).

In the afternoon win, Melanie Dembinski threw six shutout innings and allowed three hits.

Padilla went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and Gilmore was 2 for 4. Hannah Bouska had a triple and two RBIs.

The Beavers return to action at noon Saturday against Grand Canyon.
