STANFORD Calif. —Stanford scored late in the second half to take a 2-1 Pac-12 men’s soccer victory over Oregon State on Sunday.
Freshman Corey Baird scored the game-winner at 83 minutes, 12 seconds when he dribbled through the defense and unleashed a left-footed shot into the right corner from the left side of the box.
Senior defender Will Seymore scored OSU’s (10-7-1, 3-5-1) lone goal on a penalty kick at 77:31 following a handball in the Stanford box. He drove a hard shot into the lower left-hand corner to easily beat keeper Andrew Epstein for his second goal of the season.
Earlier, the Cardinal (12-2-3, 5-1-3) scored at 66:39 when Eric Verson finished off a three-way passing play with Baird and Jordan Morris.
OSU keeper Matt Bersano had seven saves. Timmy Mueller had three shots, Seymore and Graham Smith two apiece to lead the offense.
The Beavers conclude the regular season at Washington on Nov. 16. The teams tied 1-1 in Corvallis on Oct. 12.
