What's open and closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the mid-Willamette Valley

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday, Jan. 17. Here is a list of schedules and closures for the weekend:

Banks, credit unions: All will be closed Monday.

Buses: Corvallis Transit System, Dial-a-Bus, 99 Express and the Philomath Connection will run Monday; Albany Transit System, Call-A-Ride, Linn Shuttle and Linn-Benton Loop buses will not run Monday. 

Government: State government agencies will be closed Monday, as will federal offices of the Siuslaw National Forest and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Benton County, Linn County, city of Albany, city of Corvallis, city of Lebanon, city of Philomath and city of Sweet Home offices will be closed Monday. The sheriff’s offices will continue patrols, as will police departments.

Linn-Benton Community College: The college will be closed Monday.

Liquor stores: The Sweet Home Liquor Store will be closed Monday.

Oregon State University: The university will observe Monday as a holiday; celebratory events are planned.

Postal service: U.S. post offices will be closed Monday, and no deliveries will be made till Tuesday.

Public libraries: Libraries will be closed Monday.

Public schools: Most schools will be closed Monday.

Senior centers: Senior centers will be closed Monday.

Trash and recycling pickup: Contact your trash service provider for holiday schedules.
