December 9, 1929 — March 2, 2018

LouAnn (Nelson) Bennett, 88, a longtime resident of Philomath and Corvallis, passed away suddenly but quietly on Friday, March 2, 2018.

Born on December 9, 1929, LouAnn graduated from Corvallis High School, married husband Raymond Bennett in 1950, and together they owned and operated Ray Bennett Trucking in Philomath for 48 years.

LouAnn and Raymond, married for over 67 years, retired to Corvallis in 1997.

LouAnn was an avid bowler, Elvis fan, and she always enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

LouAnn is survived by husband, Raymond; sister, Betty Hardy (husband Earl) from Salem; daughter, Sandy Watterson (husband Kent) from Las Cruces, New Mexico; grandsons, Greg Watterson (wife Tracey) from Stafford, Virginia and Eric Watterson (wife Deanna) from The Netherlands; and five great-grandchildren, ranging from 1-16 years old in age.

LouAnn is preceded in death by parents, Lewis and Anna (Shubert) Nelson; sisters, Ruth Handy (husband Roland), Ruby Teyema (husband Bud), and June Gorsline (husband Bill); and her young children Patty Ann and Gary Allen.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the College United Methodist Church in Philomath. Executive Pastor Jim Thomas will officiate. Following services, family and friends will gather in the church’s Social Hall to share refreshments and memories of LouAnn.

In honor of her wishes, LouAnn’s ashes will be returned to the Earth at a later time.
