December 30, 1929 — January 3, 2019

Glen Winston Crossan, of Lebanon, died in his home on January 3, 2019. He was 89.

Glen was born on December 30, 1929, to Leigh and Celia Crossan. He was born and raised on the family farm, which was established in Lebanon in 1908. He graduated from Lebanon Union High School in 1947.

During his high school years Glen became a Christian. This led him to attend one year at Multnomah School of Bible in the mid-1950s.

He married Pixie Sue Murphy on June 25, 1960. Together, they raised three children.

Glen made his living farming on the Crossan Family Farm. When Glen was not farming, he would attend birthday parties, school assemblies and church functions dressed as his alter ego, “Ibin Goofinoff The Clown.” His favorite venue for clowning was walking in Lebanon’s annual Strawberry Parade and entertaining the crowds. He was also known on occasion to play Santa Claus for the city of Lebanon and the local area schools.

Glen was best known for his keen sense of humor. He enjoyed telling jokes, funny stories, and pulling pranks on his family and friends. Making others laugh brought Glen so much joy.

Glen served 25 years at Waterloo Chapel as the Sunday school superintendent. Glen had served the last 30-plus years at Community Bible Church of Lebanon. He had a great love for his church family. Glen was also a member of Gideon’s International, an organization that works to distribute Bibles and New Testaments to communities local and worldwide. Glen was a man of great faith and loved to share the gospel with anyone he met.

He is survived by his wife, Pixie “Sue” Crossan; and children, Janet Crossan of Lebanon, Julie Busby (Randy) of Shedd, Oregon and Jay Crossan (Rebecca) of Lebanon; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Myrna Atkinson of Corvallis.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Lee O. Crossan and Max V. Crossan.

Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 11, at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on January 19 at Lebanon Calvary Chapel (633 Park St.).

Memorial contributions can be made to Gideon’s International sent in care of Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant St., Lebanon, OR 97355.
