February 19, 1933 — November 25, 2017
Bonnie Lou Campbell Hayes was born in Colorado on February 19, 1933 to Walter and Myrtle Campbell. Bonnie and her eight siblings grew up as best friends, often joking that they were their own baseball team.
The family moved to Jefferson in 1936 to find work during the Depression, and they faithfully attended Jefferson Evangelical.
Bonnie worked at the Albany hospital for several years before marrying Archie Hayes on December 7, 1968. They lived in the same Albany home that Archie purchased in 1951 until her health deteriorated in 2017.
She is survived by Archie as well as her last remaining sibling, Edna Stam of Albany.
Although Bonnie and Archie never had children, their hearts have been a wellspring of love and generosity for family and friends. Not only was Bonnie a beloved aunt, but she also invested her time in many children who attended the daycare she ran from home for over three decades.
Bonnie was surrounded by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews in her final hours. She testified of her Savior’s grace, reassuring her family that she was ready to meet the Lord face to face.
She will be remembered for her faith, laughter, love for shopping and fashion, and for her famous chocolate lush recipe.
A memorial service will be at 11a.m. on Saturday, December 2 at the Jefferson Evangelical Church.
Contributions may be made to the church.
