A Lebanon man was charged with three counts of first-degree sex abuse and one count of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration on Thursday afternoon in Linn County Circuit Court.
Kurtis Eugene Self, 58, also is charged with sex crimes in another active case, and was convicted of sex crimes in two separate matters from 1994, according to Oregon’s online court database.
During Thursday’s hearing, prosecutor Conor McCahill asked for $200,000 security, which was ordered by Judge Michael Wynhausen.
The crimes allegedly occurred between January 2010 and December 2012, and the accuser was a girl under the age of 14 at the time. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
The next hearing in the matter was scheduled for Jan. 22.
In another case, introduced in Linn County Circuit Court in October, Self faces charges of first-degree sex abuse and two counts of third-degree sex abuse. Those crimes allegedly occurred in July, and the accuser is a minor who Self knew, according to court paperwork.
He has pleaded not guilty to the accusations, and a two-day jury trial is scheduled to start on Feb. 12.
In December 1994, Self was convicted after pleading no contest to two counts of first-degree sex abuse in two separate cases.
Both victims were girls under the age of 12, and the crimes occurred between 1989 and 1991, according to court paperwork.
