Russell Street fire

Fire crews battle a house fire on Russell Street in Lebanon.

Mid-valley crews responded Wednesday night to a house fire at 330 Russell Street in Lebanon.

The blaze was reported shortly after 8 p.m.

Lebanon Fire Division Chief Jason Bolen said he was shopping at the nearby Walgreens Pharmacy when he "saw a good header of smoke" coming from the direction of the house. The fire tone went out as he drove to the scene.

Bolen said the fire appeared to be on the structure's left and back side. Firefighters worked on the left side of the house to protect a neighbor's travel trailer, which they did successfully.

Crews extinguished the fire in less than an hour, but the house was heavily damaged. Bolen said it appeared to be vacant, although some furnishings remained inside. Personnel remained at the scene through Wednesday evening to secure the home.

The fire's cause remains under investigation.
