SWEET HOME — Several persons of interest were being interviewed by officers at the Sweet Home Police Department Monday evening after a 36-year-old man was found in the front seat of a vehicle suffering from several gunshot wounds.

Police Chief Jeff Lynn said his dispatch center received several reports of gunshots about 6:35 p.m. in the 1600 block of 13th Ave.

The man, whose name is being withheld at this time, was transported by the Sweet Home Fire & Ambulance District to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, and was transferred to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.

"The identity of the victim is known," Lynn said. "The situation is contained, and the community is not in any danger."

Lynn said the Sweet Home Police Department is conducting the investigation with assistance from the Linn County Sheriff's Office and MAIT.

"The area where the incident happened is a residential neighborhood," Lynn said.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact Officer David Hickcox at 541-367-5181.
