To the editor:
I was very disgusted with the city council’s reaction to councilor Ray Weldon’s presentation as to why the city administrator position is open.
As a former mayor and city councilor, I agree with Ray Weldon’s position and presentation, including his position that John Hitt is no longer an employee of the city of Lebanon.
If the present city council members do not follow the rules set forth in the city charter, they need to be replaced, and this can only be done by the citizens of Lebanon by their vote.
When the city council objects to some of the rules set forth in the city charter, they have the right to ask the citizens of Lebanon to make changes to the charter.
They do not have the authority to disregard the rules set forth in the city charter.
