The Distinguished Service Awards celebrated community volunteers in Lebanon at an awards dinner on March 7. The Samaritan Center was filled to see the winners receive the recognition.
The awards included a portion where various nonprofits got the chance to honor its volunteer of the year.
As is usually many of the people recognized don't participate in volunteer work because they want to be noticed. They do it because they care about making the community better, which is why makes them even more worth for the awards.
One of the presenters even noted that one of the recipients was well known "For his behind the scenes efforts." The then noted may have been let out of the bag on the irony of that statement.
It's always a nice touch in Lebanon to see people get some recognition for their efforts. We're impressed with all of the winners. They all deserve the praise. We're sure there are many unsung heroes throughout the Lebanon area who haven't received the spotlight . . . yet. If there are let us know about them and we may just see that person take home an award next year.
On another congratulatory note, five Lebanon middle schoolers wrestlers placed at the state tournament with Keith Brown of Seven Oak Middle School.
Way to go young Warriors!
