Michael James Owen, 58, of Cascadia, died in his sleep on May 7, 2011.

He was born in Salem on April 7, 1953.

He was the lead vocalist of the country-rock band, The Night Riders, in Clay Center, Kan.

He was a friend and employee of Timber Harvest Inc. Logging Company in Sweet Home, where he worked for many years. He also worked as a watchman for Melcher Logging.

Mr. Owen is survived by his soul mate Rosie Evans; mother Donna Welliver Owen; brothers Rick and Tim Owen of Green, Kan.; children Joshua Cranmer, Jessica Hobbs, Jason Owen, Bonnie Owen and stepson Johnny MacDonald; and grandchildren Tyler Hobbs, Aleeya Owen, Kris Owen, Makenzie Morgan, Aries James Owen, Jasmine Cranmer and Michael Morgan.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
