Morss Torgeson

Morss “Morrie” Torgeson passed away peacefully in his home on November 13, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was 84.

Morrie was born in Lewisberg to Roy and Nina Torgeson. They moved to Blodgett and later to Corvallis.

After high school, he served three years in the US Navy.

He then worked many years as a milk man at Sunny Brook Dairy.

In 1954, he married Charlotte Miller. They had two daughters — Debbie and Patti Torgeson.

They owned and operated Morrie’s Country Market south of Corvallis along Hwy 99.

After selling the store, Morrie went to work for the Corvallis School District 509J.

Morrie and Charlotte later divorced. He eventually retired from the school district.

Morrie loved the outdoors! He enjoyed hunting, fishing and horseback riding.

He was amazing at playing the accordion and loved John Wayne.

Morrie loved everyone. He was funny, kind and loved to laugh.

Morrie is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Nina Torgeson; two sisters, Ruth Register and Cleo (Gast) Simons.

He is survived by daughters, Patti Torgeson and Debbie Torgeson-Nasinnyk; three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He will be greatly missed.

A special thanks to Benton County Hospice for all of their tender loving care.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on December 6 at Oaklawn Cemetery, followed by a potluck at the Meadow Park Mobile Estates clubhouse.
