Joyce Mitchell, 93, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning.

Joyce was born in Tillamook to Albert Theodore and Alpha (Olson) Fortier.

She married William “Bill” Mitchell Sr. on November 11, 1947 in Albany.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2009.

Joyce is survived by her children, Judie Rubert and husband Steve of Neskowin, Cami Summers and husband Steve of Salem, Mary Lou Boydston and husband Jerry, Angela Nash, and Bill Mitchell Jr, all of Albany; brother Albert “Bud” Fortier; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Our beloved sister, mother, grandmother, GG, and aunty was a force of nature who gave unconditional love and advice to us all.

She was an avid gardener, loved to travel, competitive card player, be it Bridge, Spite & Malice, or Gin Rummy, and she belonged to The Leisure Hour book club.

She made many dear friends wherever she went, including her last home at Brookdale Geary Street.

A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday December 7 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albany, with a reception to follow.
