Jacqueline Lenore McPherson, 97, of Lebanon died Tuesday at Marian Estates in Sublimity.
Jacqueline was born March 17, 1919 in Corvallis, the daughter of Paul and Tressie (Hicks) Womer. She was raised in Corvallis and was in the first class to graduate from Corvallis High School in 1937.
Following graduation she attended Oregon State University for two years.
Jacqueline married John McPherson on Feb. 14, 1941 in Longview, Washington. They resided in Texarkana, Texas during World War II, where John was stationed while serving in the Army. They later returned to Corvallis. They moved to Lebanon in 1953 to purchase Hewett’s Drug Store, which they operated as McPherson Drug Center for 27 years.
Jacqueline had been a longtime member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church. She had also belonged to PEO, the Present Day Club and the Bridge Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, gardening and sewing.
She is survived by her son Mark McPherson of Beaverton; daughter Jean McPherson of Payette, Idaho; sister Eleanor Carpenter of Jefferson; three grandchildren; one niece and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband John on July 12, 1989 and daughter Christine McPherson.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery.
