Lacomb School is inviting the community to its first Community Wellness and Resource Night, to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22.
The event will be in the school's gym at 34110 East Lacomb Road. It is free and open to the public. Snacks will be provided.
Visitors will experience a health, safety and wellness resource fair, with a chance to meet representatives from close to 30 agencies.
Organizations expected to attend include the American Red Cross, Linn County Mental Health, Jackson Street Youth Center, Lebanon Community Pool, Scouting and Boys & Girls Club representatives, Oregon State University Master Gardeners, Linn County Developmental Disabilities and Samaritan Health Services. A massage therapist also will be on hand.
Younger visitors are invited to work on spring-themed crafts during the fair. Door prizes will be available for all ages.
Principal Whitney Connolly said the Lebanon Community School District has formed a partnership with a community group, Live Longer Lebanon, to focus on student and employee wellness this year. The fair is a part of that partnership.
"We have established a district wellness team, have wellness committees in each building, and are working with community partners to improve our efforts around wellness for all," she said. "In a previous district, we hosted a similar health and wellness night, which was always well attended and enjoyed by many.
"Despite the digital age we live in, it can still be difficult to connect to resources, especially for families in a more rural setting like Lacomb. By bringing the resources to the people, I was hopeful that we could build a stronger partnership between families and community agencies."
