Yellow Things 9-8-17

Smoke from area wildfires continues to linger in the mid-valley, and so an air quality alert remains in effect until noon Friday.

In the meantime, the mid-valley's spate of cooler weather continues, with highs in the 70s Friday and Saturday.

The air alert, issued by the Lane Regional Air Protection Agency and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, notes that smoke from the fires has resulted in unhealthy air quality throughout the mid-valley. But conditions as a whole should gradually improve through much of the region on Friday.

Pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes and runny noses, and can aggravate heart and lung diseases and other serious health problems. Experts says to limit outdoor activities and keep children indoors if conditions are smoky. If you have a heart or lung condition, follow medical advice.
