Curtis Atchley, 25, of Tangent, and Sean Chaney, 24, were in a car accident on Aug. 3.

They were the only people involved in the accident, according to Atchley’s family.

Members of Atchley’s family are maintaining a Facebook page with updates on his condition and information about how to help his young family: wife Kari Thoma, daughter Addy, 4, and son Mason, 2.

“Curtis had just married the love of his life Kari Thoma this past July 20,” said Laurie Brunson, Atchley’s mother. “This is just the beginning of a very long road of healing.”

The family does not wish to disclose exact details of the accident or Atchley’s prognosis, but did share some information.

“(They) were going around a corner, Curtis lost control and the car rolled,” according to a post on the Facebook page, which Brunson confirmed. “His friend is bruised and broken but he is out of the hospital. Curtis is in very bad condition with a head trauma.”

The report from the Linn County Sheriff's Office said Atchley and his passenger, Chaney, were coming from a birthday party in Corvallis. A medical blood draw indicated Atchley had a 0.20 blood-alcohol content, according to the report. He was wearing his seat belt.

The family asks for continued prayers.

There are accounts set up at Central Willamette under Kari Thoma and also OSU Federal under Curtis Medical Fund, for financial contributions.

Atchley was raised in the Lebanon and Tangent areas.
