Improv troupes from South Albany and West Albany high schools meet for a rematch of last year's "comedy brawl in Takena Hall" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Linn-Benton Community College's Russell Tripp Performance Center, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW in Albany.
It's the second annual High School Improv Smackdown. Improv teams from the two schools will showcase short-form improv comedy (in the spirit of the TV show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?") featuring student performers from both schools. Audience applause decides which team wins.
The troupes will compete for more than just bragging rights. They are also competing to see which school can raise more money for Albany's SafeHaven Humane Society.
Tickets are $5. When buying tickets, just tell the ticket provider whether you are a South or West Albany high school supporter. There will be a tally to see who brings in more fans, and that school gets the honor of bestowing a $100 donation to SafeHaven.
