The Benton County Historical Society and Museum, 1101 Main St. in Philomath, presents "Free Family Day at the Museum" from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 22.
The free day of activities is themed to the museum’s exhibitions, “Around the World from 80 Countries” and the “World Tour of Textiles” and celebrates cultural diversity.
The family day features arts and crafts, a scavenger hunt, and hands-on learning activities for kids. Beginning at 10 a.m. the museum's front and back lawns will be filled with dancers, demonstrations and other activities. This includes the chance to hula with Aloha Hula NW, watch the East Chinese Dance Company and 4-H Folkorico Mexicana perform. Attendees can also learn about all about labyrinths and explore culture kits from the Corvallis Multicultural Literacy Center.
In the afternoon, Corvallis Guitar Society Artistic Director Berto Boyd will give a Flamenco guitar demonstration and lecture on songs and dances from Spain. Corvallis Natya Dance Academy will perform Bharatanatyam, an Indian classical dance. The day will close with a performance by the Waldorf Taiko Drummers.
